BDJ "Suffer the little children"

Stephen Hancocks' editorial in the BDJ "Suffer the little children", excellently written as always, is largely about inequalities in oral health according to socio-economic status. Quite rightly, he mentions how fluoridation has not been used as a tool to narrow such health disparities. There is much more to mention though (and I understand there is only so much you can write, or would want to write, in an editorial). There have been two successive publications of Delivering Better Oral Health, which presented the evidence base of preventive interventions. One of the interventions with a good evidence base is fluoride varnish. But how many PCTs have got together a plan and implemented it with regard to this (NB I know that some have)? How about food and drink labelling and advertising? One could go on, but I won't for fear of sounding like a broken record.
