Walking with Lemmings
I have been reading reports of it taking 120 days to register practice owners and how this impacts on the ability to transfer practices to new owners. Taking a third of a year to register just emphasises that they (CQC) were never ready in the first place. I (and many others) pointed this out to the CQC telling them that, at least for their own credibility, to postpone implementation. But no, they went right ahead, and of course, as they were not ready, they could not cope. They now look like a poorly run organisation, which they almost certainly are. But they cannot complain because they were told loud and clear by the dental profession that this was what we expected. It was like trying to tell a lemming not to jump off a cliff. The problem is that we get hurt just as much, if not more so. If you get invited to go for a walk with a lemming it is best to decline. But, sadly, dentists had no choice. We know that General Medical Practitioners are next for registration. There are more of them than there are dentists and one wonders how the CQC will cope. I hope the medical profession have learnt from our experience and they also try to get a delay.
